Partnership

Hira Bhana are passionate about potatoes… they are after all, of one of NZ’s favourite veggies.

Wondering what they could do to fuel awareness about their health benefits, versatility and push consumption, two of the Bhana brothers ran into a couple of Blues stars while at dinner at Sky City. The players told them they ate potatoes for lunch before every game - the penny dropped and sponsorship discussions with the Auckland Rugby Union were soon underway.

The brothers soon secured sponsorship of the Auckland ITM Cup team in 2013, which has continued in 2014, and are now also a major sponsor for The Blues in the Super 15 competition in 2014. The Blues sponsorship kicked off with a “meet the Blues” function where Hira Bhana gave away four tonnes of potatoes to the fans. Their company name will feature on signage at Eden Park as well as in match programmes, and the Blues logo has proudly been added to their fleet of trucks, which can be seen on Auckland motorways delivering their veggies.

Bhana’s are excited about the opportunities their investment has provided them and hope other growers follow their lead to promote fresh produce… for the benefit of the industry and the eating habits of all New Zealanders… rugby fans or not.

And on a smaller scale

Hira Bhana also support their local community... donating fresh produce to locals schools and community groups for fundraising events and hosting student groups on farm tours.

Also for a number of years now Hira Bhana have been supporters of the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust.  The continued support has allowed the trust to provide 2 full time rescue helicopters for the Auckland region.
